Note: Choosing the incorrect location type can result in substantial fees and charges.

Limited access locations are where pickup or delivery is restricted or limited for the driver. Common limited access locations include, but are not limited to: colleges/universities, country clubs, churches, prisons, schools, govt. offices, or fair

Service Types

Dependent upon the commodity type. The transportation service types that a Carrier offers or that a Shipper requires. There are about 70 service types depending on the commodity being shipped. This list is just a sampling.

Household Goods Furniture Option

  • Blanket Wrap Service - The Service Provider carefully wrap items in blankets, load, and unload items. Pick up and delivery inside to a first floor is included.
  • Courier Service - specialized transportation and service for delivering mail, packages, and other goods. Distinguished from ordinary mail service by features such as speed, security, tracking, signature, and specialization of services, and committed delivery times. Couriers range from owner operators or regional delivery vans to large international package delivery companies.
  • LTL Freight and Packaging Service - The Service Provider picks up and packs items to freight standards, loads, and unloads items. Extra fees may apply for pick up and delivery inside.
  • LTL Standard Service - The Shipping Customer must pack items to freight standards, load, and unload items. Typically used by businesses with loading docks. Residential service and pick up or delivery inside may be available for extra fees.
  • White Glove - The Service Provider provides the highest level of care. Includes packing, wrapping, loading, unloading, setting up items anywhere on the destination premises, and removing packing materials.

White Glove ServiceWhite Glove Service is the highest level of care and is especially useful when transporting valuable, delicate and hard-to-ship items. The Service Provider carefully disassembles, prepares, packages and wraps the items, loads them on the truck, then transports, unloads, unwraps, un-box, assembles and sets up the items inside the new location.
Blanket Wrap ServiceBlanket Wrap Service offers special care for large and fragile items. The customer will need to pack any small items into boxes and disassemble large or hard-to-move items. The Service Provider wraps furniture, electronics and other items that won't go into boxes with protective blankets, loads the items and secures them in the truck for transport. At the delivery point, the Service Provider unloads, unwraps and carries all items into the new location.

Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Freight and Packaging ServiceLTL (Less-Than-Truckload) Freight and Packaging service can be a great way to save when transporting household goods. The Service Provider will box, palletize or crate the items in accordance with freight standards so they are eligible for freight transport. The Service Provider will load the items into the truck, deliver them to the new location and unload them to the curb or dock. Optional "accessorial" services, such as inside pickup, and residential service are available for an additional fee.

Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Freight - Transport Only ServiceLTL (Less-Than-Truckload) Standard Service is the most basic level of freight service available. The customer is responsible for packaging items in accordance with freight standards using boxes, pallets or crates. The base level is loading dock service, which requires the customer to load and unload the items into and out of the truck, and the freight company is only responsible for transporting the shipment to the destination. Optional "accessorial" services, such as lift-gate loading/unloading, inside pickup and residential service are available for an additional fee.

Open Transport ServicePremium level care for vehicle or motorcycle transport. The Service Provider will carefully load the car or motorcycle onto an open trailer and secure it for transport. Some Service Providers even have customized trailers with padding and rigging designed exclusively for vehicle or motorcycle transport. The Service Provider will tow the trailer to the delivery location and unload the vehicle or motorcycle.
Enclosed Transport ServicePremium level care for vehicle or motorcycle transport. The Service Provider will carefully load the car or motorcycle into an enclosed trailer that is protected from the elements and road debris. Some Service Providers even have customized trailers with padding and rigging designed exclusively for vehicle or motorcycle transport. The Service Provider will tow the trailer to the delivery location and unload the vehicle or motorcycle. The service is commonly used for rare or high-value vehicles or motorcycles or for transport through extreme climates.
Driveaway ServiceThe most basic level of vehicle transport service. The Service Provider drives the vehicle to the destination. No other equipment is used for the transport job.
Flatbed Transport Servicethis type of service is commonly used for boats that are too large for standard boat trailers and for smaller boats on trailers where the boat owner does not want to put any mileage on their trailer. The Shipping customer generally arranges the lifting and loading of the boat separately through a boatyard or marina. The Service Provider assists with the rigging and tows the trailer to the delivery location.
In-water Delivery ServiceIn-Water Delivery is a basic level of service where the Service Provider captains the boat to be transported on the water to the destination. This service is useful for moving large boats, transporting a boat internationally and for shipments with a practical water route where the customer does not mind the extra wear on the boat. The price varies depending on the size of the boat, the crew required and the number of days for the trip.
Ocean Freight Container SerivceContainer service is used to transport boats overseas in standard shipping containers. The Service Provider arranges for the boat to be loaded into a container, secured and crane-loaded onto the ship. Since the boat must fit within a container, it must have a beam of less than 8’.

Self ServiceThe Shipping Customer loads the shipment.
The Service Provider or designee crates, loads and transports the motorcycle and delivers it to the curb or dock. Tow-Away ServiceA basic level service to transport towable vehicles or boats. The Service Provider uses their truck to tow the Shipper's vehicle or boat to the destination. The service is only for roadworthy vehicles, legal trailers, and boats. Examples: Fifth wheel, folding tent trailer, travel trailer.
Courier ServiceCourier Service is a specialized transportation and service for delivering mail, packages and other goods. Courier service is distinguished from ordinary mail service by features such as speed, security, tracking, signature, specialization of services, and committed delivery times. Couriers range from owner operators of regional delivery vans to large international package delivery companies.

FlatbedFlatbedA type of truck which can be either articulated or rigid. As the name suggests, it has an entirely flat, level 'bed' body with no sides or roof.
LowboyLowboyA semi-trailer with two drops in deck height: one right after the gooseneck and one right before the wheels. This design allows the deck to be extremely low compared with other trailers. It offers the ability to carry legal loads up to 12 ft (3.66 m) tall, which other trailers cannot. Lowboys are used to haul heavy equipment such as bulldozers or industrial equipment, for example.
StepDeckStep DeckAn open trailer with a standard flatbed section at the front and a dropped section in the rear used to transport taller cargo.
OnTrailerPower OnlyA trucking industry term for using an independent driver or a logistics company’s tractor to move your trailer that you have either purchased or leased.
ReeferReeferA trailer designed for transporting food. Consists of insulated walls and self-powered refrigeration unit.
AirRideVanAir Ride VanA trailer that is equipped with air-ride suspension.
AutoCarrierAuto CarrierA semi-trailer especially designed to carry automobiles, vans, and trucks. This trailer type can either be open or enclosed.
DumpDumpA truck with a body that tilts or opens at the back for unloading.
FlatbedDoubleFlatbed DoubleA flatbed trailer that rides even lower to the ground giving you that extra bit of clearance you need for those unusually high-riding loads.
RemovableGooseneckRemovable GooseneckA gooseneck is the front end of a trailer frame that houses the upper coupler and overlaps the truck frame. A removable gooseneck can be removed either manually or with hydraulics.
StretchedFlatbedStretch FlatbedA trailer that has the ability to transport extra long loads.
TankerTankerA trailer designed to carry liquified loads, dry bulk cargo, or gases on roads.
VanDoubleVan DoubleA trailer that has two vans connected to pull twice the load. The lead trailer is connected to the tag trailer. For example, a "MaxiCUBE Classic B-double van allows a forklift to be driven through the tag trailer into the lead trailer without having to unhitch. The unique trailer design includes front and rear roller doors and an underslung fridge plant on the tag trailer, and an automatic sliding turntable on the lead trailer. At the flick of a switch, the brakes on the rear trailer are locked and the turntable unlocked, allowing the truck to reverse the lead trailer to join the front of the tag trailer, enabling a forklift to be driven through both trailers. The result is speedy loading and unloading and faster turn around times."
